The kids had a lot of fun hanging with their grandma and exploring the campus. Caleb found a bike and rode it all over campus. He also found some friends to play with and even went floating down the creek with them. We really enjoyed our time there and had a relaxing visit with grandma.
Hannah, who is learning how to quilt this year, made a cushion for her grandma. Of course, grandma loved it, and I thought she did a great job!
One of the afternoons we went over to a nearby town called Sundre. It was a small museum with a large room full of taxidermy animals that had been shot by one man who started hunting in his seventies. It was amazing to see. He had animals from Africa, Antarctica, Europe, and North America. It is well worth seeing!
We also went to a nearby lake and the kids tried their fishing skills. It was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed watching them have their hand at it. Well, Grandma and I did, Casey was busy changing bait, and untangling line most of the time! They did manage to catch some small ones and two of them got the hook stuck down their throats so they weren’t able to be put back in the lake. So, Malaya learned how to kill, scale, gut, and fry up a fish, then she ate it!! She is quite the girl! Hannah on the other hand, had a funeral for the poor fish.
Another fun thing that we did was take a hike through the forest on campus. One of the previous staff had made an obstacle course in the forest. So Grandma took us through it one by one and Malaya, Caleb, Judah did them. They had a lot of fun being challenged and completing each one. When we were out on this adventure, the clouds suddenly came in and it began to HAIL on us! The kids were so excited and again shocked at seeing ice come from the clouds in the summertime. They loved it!
Another new experience that we had was to shoot guns at a target. It was cold and drizzling but we all went out to take our best shot. The kids all did very well, and it was surprising to see how much Hannah enjoyed it. After that Hannah said that she would go hunting and shoot an animal as long as it wasn’t a doe. This pleased her Daddy very well and I know that he is anticipating that day.
We were blessed to spend a Sunday at Living Faith and Casey was asked to share about Panama. The report he gave was well received and the church prayed over us as well. It was a beautiful service and we appreciated being able to be there. We were also reunited with some friends, my bible school teachers, and of course Pastor and Mrs. Stalwick. We thank the Lord for our time there.
Then we set off to Red Deer.
